Caught in Long Island Sound on a live eel, angler Greg Myerson knew his striper was big, just not potentially world-record big. The former college football star brought the colossal striper into Jack Katzenbach's baitshop in Westbrook, Connecticut, where the owner encouraged Myerson to apply for world-record status. But that's where the story gets strange, including rumors of Myerson's hospitalization to his outright refusal to pursue IGFA certification—and a possible $1 million or more in prizes and endorsements.
