Photos: 150 New Fish Species

Field Guide to Freshwater Fishes of North America
Peterson guides are the supreme authority when it comes to identifying fish, mammals, birds, insects and just about any other living thing. In particular, anglers used the first edition of the Field Guide to Freshwater Fishes of North America to tell the difference between fish like an Alabama and spotted bass, or a Yellowstone and westslope cutthroat.

The just-published second edition of this famous book outlines physical and geographic data on all of the nearly 1,000 freshwater fish in North America, including roughly 150 new species that hadn't been identified when the first edition came out 20 years ago.

Lifelike illustrations show what each type of fish looks like, while highly detailed maps indicate where each species swims, whether the home range covers thousands of square miles covering multiple states, or hundreds of square feet in one particular river or stream.
