Grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy this 1956 Garcia product promo film of World Champion Caster Johnny Dieckman demonstrating proper baitcasting technique with the ABU Ambassadeur 5000. Yep, it was a much simpler time, although the approach to bassin' is still much the same: find the cover, find the fish. And the Ambassadeur? Still a kick-butt reel.
Dieckman was a rod designer for NARMCO—the "originator of the tubular fiberglass fishing rod" under the brand Conolon—later sold to Garcia. Dieckman was also a champion tournament fisherman in the sport's infancy. Think KVD, 1956. |
