First Look At The New Revo Reels
 |
| |
Abu Garcia's Revo baitcasters have been a sensation since they first hit tackle shop shelves, but that didn't stop the company's engineering brain trust from tweaking them even more.
The third-generation lineup won't even be officially unveiled until next month's big tackle show in Orlando, but Fishin' Informer editors already got to put the Revo Premier, STX, SX, S and Winch to the test for four grueling days on Lake El Salto, and caught hundreds of bruiser largemouths up to 9½ pounds.
Most impressive: Abu Garcia cut the reels' overall weight by 20 percent or more and reduced the profile height, so they're even more comfortable to fish. They did that, all while widening the spool and beefing up the reel's gears and gear cases. Casts with everything from small Crankster baits to 10-inch Texas-rigged worms were long and smooth.
And speed? While all the Revos wind line like crazy, one version of the STX model has an 8:1 gear ratio! |
