Secret Fishin' Gear Fix

D5S Deoxit Contact Cleaner spray
Ever have your sonar or GPS decide to turn itself on? Or worse yet, turn itself off?

Boat-mounted fishing electronics can attract road dirt and develop sticky keypads. Power switches, which often also control backlighting, seem especially vulnerable.

You can often breathe health back into your faulty unit with a contact cleaner like Hosa D5S Deoxit Contact Cleaner spray that's safe for use on plastic surfaces.

First, mask off the face of the unit with newspaper to protect it from overspray, then, with the application tube that attaches to the nozzle, spray behind the keypads and push the keys repeatedly to milk the cleaner back into the switches.

While you're at it, give the cable connections a good shot, and look forward to focusing more time on your fishing instead of your electronics!
