Weekend Edition: Prepare Your Gear, Plan A Trip & Enjoy The Action
Mid January and prime fishing time is a ways off. Instead of moping, invest a few hours in preparing for future trips.
Prepare Your Gear
Now's the perfect time to
replace old fishing lines
clean and tighten up all your reels
and inspect your rods for bent or broken line guides. You could take 'em in for repair, or
wrap on a new guide yourself
. It's easy. Every minute you spend preparing now will pay off 10 times over once the fishing action heats up.
Settle in on Sunday morning for a couple of hours of heart thumpin' fishing action on
. The monster bloc kicks off with
"Babe Winkelman's Good Fishing"
at 10 a.m. Eastern, followed by
"North American Fisherman,"
"The Bass Pros"
"Bill Dance Outdoors."
And, hey, if you're not the type to just sit, go ahead and organize your tackle boxes while you watch.
Plan Your Dream Trip

organizing this year's major fishing trips
. It's not too soon to mark dates on your calendar so you can lock in vacation time. If you're still deciding on a destination, nail down the dates for the nearest sportshow where they'll be plenty of lodges and outfitters to research.
