Must-Have Spawn Maps
Spawn Maps
In many places across the country gamefish are protected during the spawn. Still, knowing the approximate dates for this annual romance in the shallows can give you an upper hand once the season does open. Catch-and-release is especially vital during this time of the year.

So what's the best way to tell when the crappies, bass and walleyes will be spawning in your area? We suggest perusing these awesome spawn maps courtesy of the North American Fishing Club.

Created by Mississippi State University fisheries biologist, and regular NAF contributor Hal Schramm, these maps give some general nationwide spawning dates for crappies, largemouth bass, smallmouths and walleyes, based on decades of data.

Still, the best anglers are the observant ones. Keep an eye on your local weather and water temps to fully dial in the annual event.
